Cock's comb is a favorite among gardeners seeking ornamentals as they are cheerfully bright. It is used in the treatment of bloody stool, hemorrhoid bleeding, uterine bleeding, leucorrhoea and diarrhea. It also works woinders for retinal degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, blurred vision, cataracts and bloodshot eyes. The leaves and the young shoots can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable.
